SELLLN holds a variety of seminars and conferences, and also works with other Lifelong Learning Networks to organise pan-London staff development conferences.  Details of all of these, together with other events of interest to our partners, can be found on the Events page. Events from 2009

Over the last twelve months, SELLLN has hosted conferences and seminars focusing on our four sector areas; information, advice and guidance; key issues surrounding progression for vocational learners; and staff development. The network has collaborated on a Pan-London basis with the West London, Linking London and South London Lifelong Learning Networks, and worked with the Financial Services Skills Council, Skills for Care, Skills for Health, Creative Process, and Inspiring Futures, as well as with our partner colleges and universities.


Supporting successful applications to university - staff development conference in September 2009.

The network has provided staff development in the areas of:

  • APEL and employer engagement
  • Apprenticeships
  • The Diploma
  • The QCF
  • SELLLN funded development projects and research
  • Supporting applications to university: personal statements, reference writing, and quality assurance processes

Ruth Thompson, Director-General for Higher Education, Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills, delivered a keynote speech at SELLLN's Second Year Conference, February 2009.



Peter Wilson, Development Officer (Credits and Qualifications) at NIACE, lead a seminar on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) in March 2009.
